Donate to Carpe Mundi's 2018 Spring Campaign

"We travel, some of us forever, to seek other states, other lives, other souls."

 -Anaïs Nin

Your donation allows us to continue to provide life changing mentorship programming, creating students that will go on to finish their college degrees, and travel to great lengths to make positive changes in their lives and their communities.

Carpe Mundi is basking in the glow of welcoming home our sixth year of intrepid travelers. Thanks to the help of supporters like you, we’ve successfully grown our program over the past six years. This year we served three cohorts of students, sending 27 low-income, first-generation college students abroad. This May we want to illustrate how your gift to the Carpe Mundi Spring Campaign not only helps a student venture out into the world for two or three months of travel, but also makes a difference in a student’s life for years to come.

We travel, some of us forever, to seek other states, other lives, other souls.” - Anäis Nin.

This year’s Spring Campaign theme highlights that a donation to Carpe Mundi will create more college graduates who will travel for the rest of their lives and continue to seek the best for themselves and their community. Catch up with some of our (soon to be 87!) alumni to learn more about your impact:

Nelyn P. (2017 - India) is studying Community Development at Portland State University. Since her travels last year, she has ventured to Israel and to Tunisia to share her narrative on being an indigenous woman from Chuuk, Micronesia studying in the US, and what it means to be a global citizen.

While in Vietnam, Iris R. (2015- Southeast Asia) discovered that she wanted to be a geologist and now she’s actively pursuing her dream. She’s sailed on research vessels in the Pacific and Atlantic, and presented her research in both Portland and Seattle. She is a McNair Scholar, currently studying geology at Portland State University.

Our mission at Carpe Mundi is to facilitate the transformation of economically disadvantaged Portland youth into globally aware and socially engaged college graduates; youth like Nelyn and Iris.

HOW? – We provide low-income college students with personal mentorship, quality international experiential education trips, and post trip advising with community engagement opportunities.

WHY? – We have significantly improved the college persistence rate for students with these socio-economic profiles. Over 70% of Carpe Mundi students have completed or are in the process of completing college degrees, while others are continuing their travels and pursuing their passions in music and the arts.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?  Donate today to help us provide the level of mentorship and support that creates confident young adults who refuse to settle for anything less than their dreams. Carpe Mundi students will travel to great lengths to achieve their goals, and you are an integral part of that journey.

As our program continues to grow, we are committed to providing deeper and more intentional mentorship and experiential education opportunities for our students. Together we will create a new generation of globally engaged and socially aware college graduates. Thank you for your generous donation, for your continued support, and for furthering our goal of transforming young lives.
