"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” - Mary Oliver
This is a question we ask all our students to contemplate before they participate in Carpe Mundi. As we welcome home our 2018-2019 students, now world travelers, we want to give you a glimpse of the opportunities you provide for their one wild and precious life. In 2018-2019 our students…
Bathed rescued baby elephants in Thailand
Packed medicine at the Mother Theresa House in India
Learned about immigration from locals in Morocco
Built a school for stateless children in Thailand
Planted mangrove forests in Cambodia
Received 130 hours of mentorship in Portland
Earned 24 credits from Portland State University
And so much more....
The work we do at Carpe Mundi empowers low-income students to study abroad, but our mission goes beyond that. Our goal is to increase students confidence, connect them with a passion or interest, and empower them to go on to complete their college education, transforming their life and the lives of those in their communities.
HOW? – We provide low-income college students with a year of personal mentorship, a quality experiential education semester abroad, and post travel advising with community engagement opportunities.
WHY? – We have significantly improved the college persistence rate for students of color and students from low-income backgrounds. Since 2012, 93% of Carpe Mundi students continued with their education post-programming, a marked increase from their peer group.
WHAT CAN YOU DO? Donate today to help us provide the level of mentorship and support that creates confident young adults who refuse to settle for anything less than their dreams. Your donation during our Spring Campaign will help us reach our goal of $22,000 - allowing us to support 22 more students in 2019-2020.
Your donation creates once in a lifetime opportunities for Carpe Mundi youth, transforming their one wild and precious life, and the lives of everyone else they touch on their journey. Thank you for your generous donation, for your continued support, and for being a part of the journey.
