When alum Jahmeil Ennis joined us behind the camera at this year’s Un-Gala & Auction, his lens captured more than beautiful moments — it caught the heart of the Carpe Mundi community.
A 2020 Carpe Mundi graduate who traveled to India, Jahmeil now works at Senaptec, where he supports marketing and visual storytelling. He’s found a way to merge creativity, business, and purpose — but he always makes time for Carpe Mundi, the organization that helped him see the world (and himself) differently.
His experience abroad pushed him far beyond his comfort zone and taught him to stay curious, listen deeply, and connect with people wherever he goes — lessons that continue to shape his work and art today.
🌱 A Look Back: Life at Sadhana Forest
In 2020, Jahmeil and his cohort spent a week at Sadhana Forest — a reforestation and sustainable living project in southern India that challenged and inspired them in equal measure.
“Sadhana Forest is a reforestation project as well as a fully sustainable community, practicing a zero-waste lifestyle, a fully vegan diet, and unschooling,” Jahmeil wrote at the time. “Every morning, the community wakes up at 5:30 a.m. to participate in seva — community service — mulching trees, cooking meals, and caring for the land.”
The rhythm of the forest was simple but transformative. With limited electricity, no running water, and a focus on collective service, the group learned to find joy in small moments — conversations over breakfast, laughter during chores, and music in the evenings.
“We’re grateful for our time at Sadhana because it was so far out of our comfort zone. It wasn’t easy, but it taught us to live minimally, to appreciate what we have, and to find connection in community.”
Those lessons of humility, gratitude, and resilience continue to echo through Jahmeil’s creative work. His photos from this year’s Un-Gala reflect that same lens — seeing beauty in community, growth, and shared experience.

📸 Alongside his reflections, Jahmeil captured stunning wildlife photography during his travels — moments that reveal his deep connection to nature and curiosity about the world. From quiet encounters with animals in their natural habitats to vivid landscapes, his photos remind us how exploration opens our eyes not only to new cultures, but to the beauty and complexity of the planet we share.
