For the first time ever, our event this year will feature live music from the Rachel Brashear Trio! Rachel plays both original pieces and standard hits with a powerful yet lilting voice. She's described as American Gothic meets American Songbook, and has having Rock Sentiments in a Jazz Package. The Rachel Brashear Trio includes Carpe Mundi alumni, Max Williams from the Aleph Cohort - we're thrilled to feature him on the main stage this year! What: Listen to the Ganesha Cohort share personal stories about their growth, learnings and adventures while traveling around the world, in a Moth style storytelling event, hosted by Andrew Dickson of the Moth PDX! And watch a video from the Fortaleza Cohort, showcasing their journey in Central America! Admission is free. Light refreshments will be provided. Come hear from the Ganesha Cohort as they will have just returned from East Africa, India, Southeast Asia, Central America and South America. This group of nine has done everything from scuba diving in Zanzibar, to Trekking in the Himalayas. Each student has a very unique experience and is excited to share that with you.
Puppet is located on the fifth floor at 308 SW 2nd Ave., Portland, OR 97204. Snacks and light refreshments will be provided.
Come hear from the PDXchange Fortaleza cohort about their experience in Nicaragua and Costa Rica. These eight intrepid souls took language classes, worked on a permaculture farm, learned how to surf, weave, ride horses, build out of adobe, save baby turtles, survived giant spiders and much much more! This group of students is also quite musical. A few months away from phones and computers helped this group find "harmony", within themselves and the group.
P:ear is a non-profit that builds positive relationships with homeless and transitional youth through education, art and recreation to affirm personal worth and create more meaningful and healthier lives. Each year our programs serve almost 900 homeless and transitional young people ages 15 to 24. In addition to meeting with the Carpe Mundi youth, you can take a look a the artwork in the current installation at the Gallery. “An Education” is a new collection of work by artist Jeremy Okai Davis accompanied by work from p:ear youth.

On January 18, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Carpe Mundi students and members of our Carpe Mundi family took part in a volunteer shift at Oregon Food Bank.
