The student group arrived yesterday morning to Arequipa safe and sound and have been united with their instructors. They are off now to Chigata to do our Orientation to the program. The internet connectivity isn’t the most reliable up there but we will keep you posted whenever we can!

I went on this trip to “find myself.” One of my very first journal entries was me having a full on identity crisis. Who am I? What am I supposed to with my time on Earth? What is my purpose? But what does it even mean to find yourself or lose yourself? Look in the mirror and peekaboo, there you are.
The day of Holi was amazing because the day before we had to help make the colors and we learned how to make colors for Holi which is very fun. And it was like a Warzone there; everybody was after one another as we celebrated. In Holi, you have to put colors on people’s faces and have to run to avoid people or you’ll get color in your face.
Something that surprised me was how kind the people were. Also how the staff made sure I had what I needed. I met a lot of new people and was able to get dressed for Shivratri which is a festival celebrated from 7 pm to 4 am. I got to wear a Saree and learn to dance. I was surprised how long people stayed awake at the festival.
Along with comfortable beds and spacious bathroom areas for all, the ashram is very welcoming to everyone and a very peaceful environment. The staff is also very welcoming, kind and patient. I would gladly return to the ashram. My stay there was wonderful and very peaceful. The environment was also very insightful and opened up a new world of possibilities.
